Our Social Value Story

This is the story of what our buildings do for the people who work in them, live around them and pass through them, told through the places we care for across London, the Foundation that carries our founder’s name, and the young people we are helping into our industry.

At Lazari, everything we do is to help preserve London as a world-class city

Our belief

We believe the built environment can be a powerful force for good. Buildings are not simply silhouettes on the city skyline, but catalysts for growth – unlocking wellbeing, productivity and long-term opportunity for both communities and businesses.

There’s power in developing a great city. And we believe that power comes with great responsibility. So we create spaces that contribute to social harmony and economic vitality – generating employment, supporting local ecosystems and empowering innovation and talent to thrive. When people are supported by their surroundings, they perform better, stay longer and play a more meaningful part in advancing the success of the city.

Our approach

Our approach is grounded in generational thinking, working with London’s existing infrastructure, prioritising well-connected locations and focusing on steady growth that endures.

By designing places with people at the centre, we help ensure London continues to thrive both locally and globally – today and for generations to come.

A legacy of giving back

Our founder Christos Lazari believed that success carried a responsibility to give back to the city that made it possible.

Christos Lazari’s philanthropy was rooted in long-term commitment and a belief that meaningful impact comes from consistency.

The Christos Lazari Foundation was established in 2017 to carry that ethos on, ensuring his philanthropic legacy continues to strengthen the communities London relies on. It was deliberately structured in a way that prioritises sustainability and long-term impact.

Since 2017, the Foundation has donated more than £825,000 across 60 causes. Working with partners like Chickenshed, Make-A-Wish, Muscular Dystrophy UK, and Spread a Smile, we are able to provide the kind of long-term backing that allows these organisations to foster real change. From medical research and healthcare to the arts and heritage, funding is targeted where it is needed most.

It is a model that turns the stability of our property into social support. Through the Foundation, we are proud to continue Christos Lazari’s legacy, making sure that our success contributes to a more prosperous and enduring city for all Londoners.

63 New Bond Street The Lazari building

63 New Bond Street has lived both moments – first as a fixture of the streetscape, then on the cusp of demolition. Now, in its second life, it rises again. Reworked, reimagined
and ready for tomorrow.

Right on so many levels – Brunswick Centre illustration

Brunswick CentreBloomsbury

Real impact is created by what a place does, not just what it is. Brunswick Centre takes a layered approach to creating lasting value, from a year-round programme of community events and open, accessible retail and food spaces to arts partnerships and donations. But beneath the surface, something truly groundbreaking is taking shape – the building’s unused underground car park is being repurposed as a 207-bed hotel, laying the foundations for stronger local activity, supporting surrounding businesses and enabling the place to play a more meaningful role in the neighbourhood.

Bringing fame and fortune to London – 16 Great Marlborough Street illustration

16 Great Marlborough Street

London has always been the city you come to in search of fame and fortune. In one of its most famous tales, a boy once arrived here with nothing but his cat and left as Lord Mayor. So when Diageo, one of the world’s biggest drinks companies, decided to consolidate its presence into a single Soho address, it was a win for them – but also a feat for the city.

Previously spread across four different locations in the outer reaches of London, Diageo’s move to 16 Great Marlborough Street brought 900 employees under one roof.

Welcome – Greater London House illustration

Greater London House | Euston

Greater London House has always been a landmark. By committing to cleaner air, accessible greenery and more inclusive spaces, we are turning an icon of the past into infrastructure for a healthier future. No ifs, ands or (cigarette) butts about it.

Maple House | Tottenham Court Road

At Maple House, we’ve brought living green space back to a once bleak-feeling Brutalist block. Where residents of Camden social housing once looked down on a flat expanse of astroturf, they now overlook a verdant rooftop forest with over 90 mature trees, thousands of plants and confirmed habitats for solitary bees and house sparrows.

All under one Lantern – training, care, media and homes illustration

The Lantern | Euston

A collision of disciplines, lifestyles and perspectives is what creates true harmony in a society. And real innovation in a city. Different viewpoints shape our own. Different stories enrich our imagination. And when business, residence and education converge, something rarer emerges – a genuine melting pot of inspiration and value.

In 2023, The Lantern won the BCO London Award for Best Commercial Workplace. The judging panel called it “a smart building that champions sustainability and human efficiency”

What’s next?

Going forward, our mission is to keep progressing the initiatives that make people feel more included, more capable and more connected.

We will continue to push the boundaries of what buildings can do for their people – creating spaces that open up opportunity and inspire talent. Because when you design for people first, you give them the power to change the future.
