Don’t knock it until you’ve transformed it
A place that will generate local employment, drive footfall to surrounding restaurants and shops, enliven the streetscape and raise the quality of the public realm. All while keeping carbon low.

Bedford House | Camden High Street
At Lazari, we set precedents. For ourselves, our partners and our industry. One pattern we return to repeatedly is taking underutilised, often tired stock and converting it into something that brings real social and economic value – to the community and to the city.
Bedford House is exactly that.
A worn office building on Camden High Street that wasn’t living up to its potential, we are transforming it into a Premier Inn.
It’s adaptive reuse guided by the philosophy that you shouldn’t knock it down. You should regenerate it and make it work harder. Because the building with the lowest negative impact and the highest positive ripple effect on its community is almost always the one that already exists.

The regeneration of Bedford House starts with a clear look at what Camden High Street is actually missing. The principal retail pitch around Camden Town Underground sees more visitor demand than it can currently accommodate. Bedford House will become a Premier Inn at the borough’s busiest pedestrian gateway, anchoring high-street activity, supporting surrounding retail and hospitality, and giving the area’s visitors somewhere to stay that’s worthy of the neighbourhood they’ve come to experience. No oversupply or imposition. Rather, a thoughtful response to genuine demand.
This will be Lazari’s fourth Premier Inn project, with a fifth in the pipeline. Over time, we have built a replicable approach to converting worn out office stock into lower-carbon, higher-utility hospitality – one that consistently creates more local jobs, stimulates the economy and injects new life to the areas that need them. Bedford House is the latest expression of that commitment.
If there’s something we’ve learnt over the years, it’s to see promise where others may not. And that a building that has the potential to work harder for its people, neighbourhood and city is worth investing in.
