All under one Lantern

A collision of disciplines, lifestyles and perspectives is what creates true harmony in a society. And real innovation in a city. Different viewpoints shape our own. Different stories enrich our imagination. And when business, residence and education converge, something rarer emerges – a genuine melting pot of inspiration and value.

In 2023, The Lantern won the BCO London Award for Best Commercial Workplace. The judging panel called it “a smart building that champions sustainability and human efficiency”

That’s exactly what’s happening at The Lantern – an intersection of the four social value anchors (Media, Training, Care and Homes) that makes it one of the most diverse addresses in London.

Set in Euston, The Lantern is the new London headquarters of Bauer Media UK – the first time every one of their audio and publishing brands has shared a single roof. Absolute Radio, Magic, Greatest Hits Radio, KISS, Hits Radio, Scala Radio, Jazz FM, Grazia, heat and TV Choice all broadcast and publish from here, in a building designed for maximum collaboration. A space where ideas collide and stories unfold. It’s a concentrated hub of creativity in the heart of the city.

The Lantern also delivers six London Affordable Rent homes through Origin Housing, including a dedicated disabled-access unit, bringing people into one of London’s most well-connected neighbourhoods. And they’re designed to almost the same specification as the market homes, with lift access and private balconies for every resident.

Eleven further apartments serve UCLH patients and their families during ongoing treatment, offering comfortable accommodation close to the hospital.

A BUPA walk-in clinic occupies the Hampstead Road frontage, keeping community health provision on the street. Central and North West London NHS Foundation Trust has been offered new premises within the building. And on the ground floor, First Intuition’s second London training centre brings 12 classrooms and around 350 students a year into the mix.

All of this under one roof creates something rare. A true intersection of culture, media, education, health and everyday life – where each community enriches another, and every person who passes through is part of something larger than themselves. A real benchmark of what diversity and mixed-use can mean for London.
